At Ashwood Chiropractic Clinic we believe in a holistic approach to treatment, treating the body as a whole and not just the treating of symptoms.

Our principle goal is to improve well-being, to assist with the healing process and to alleviate pain.

In keeping with these principles, our treatment plans may well include a complementary form of treatment, such as sports massage therapy, Lymphatic drainage massage be undertaken alongside Chiropractic.

Relief & Comfort

“Sports Massage” is more than the title suggests. Treatment can provide relief and comfort to tired, overworked and stressed out muscles.

Whether you are a competitive sports person, lead a busy or stressful lifestyle, or whether you feel you need that little extra to help you unwind following a particularly turbulent or stressful period.

It really is a treatment that can be used by everyone.  Sports massage therapy can help to warm and relax your muscles, ease muscle separation from connective tissue which over training or intense workouts can cause.  It can help with strain injuries, and if used in alongside your training plan, lead to increased performance and prevention of injuries.

Stretching & Massage

Stretching techniques and massage can help to reduce tissue tension, improve soft tissue elasticity, permeability and fluid circulation, and can lead to the better use of our body’s muscles.  This can also see an improvement in range of motion, in stuck or locked joints which can not only be debilitating, but also painful and restrictive to our everyday routines.

Shoulder problems are a typical example where restrictive movement is caused by tight, tensioned or strained muscles.  By reducing and relaxing the tension in the muscles that surround the rotator cuff as well as the pectoralis minor which sits anterior (front) of the body you can greatly increase movement and reduce pain.

Lymphatic drainage massage is now available as a stand alone treatment or as part of a care plan in addition to Chiropractic care.

Here are some of the specific treatments we offer

Sports Massage
Sport Massage uses a variety of hands-on proven treatment techniques which are often deeper and more intense than conventional massage techniques.  This can help to speed up an athletes’ recovery time and help prevent injury.  The massage therapist generally concentrates on a specific problem area (Sore neck, shoulders, ankle, knees, etc.) rather than full body massage.

As we all know, a key part of staying healthy is physical exercise.  Ensuring you are exercising safely is crucial if you are a keen fitness enthusiast. That being said, even the most careful of us can sometimes succumb to injury. Our experienced therapist will soothe away tension and rehabilitate overexerted bodies to help bring you back to peak condition.

Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage differs from Sports Massage and Deep Tissue massage because there is less focus on particular areas.  There is a more general approach with remedial massage.

Many clients find that it is more soothing than sports or deep-tissue massage.  After remedial massage there is often a feeling of an all-round health improvement.  This may mean better quality sleep, an increase in vitality and improved performance levels, as well as increased mobility.

Remedial massage is great for back pain – it can relieve tension after only a single session!

Aqua Body Massage
Lie back on a cushion of warm water for this all over relaxing massage which is performed on warm water cushions that are placed on a massage couch.  The warm water relaxes the muscles and supports the body, giving a sensation of floating and providing a soothing and relaxing massage experience.

Benefits include:

  1. Improved circulation
  2. Reduced muscle and joint pains
  3. Reduced stress
  4. Improved sleep

It is Ideal for people with mobility problems, including pregnant women, because you don’t need to turn over during the treatment.

Neuromuscularphysical Therapy
This treatment uses medically proven techniques which can

  • Locate and release muscle spasms and hypercontraction
  • Eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain.
  • Introduce length and flexibility to muscle tissue.
  • Promote instant healing and recovery of damaged muscle tissue.

Patients who suffer from acute or chronic pain resulting from occupational, sports and accidental injuries, can benefit from receiving neuromuscularphysical therapy.  It incorporates a clinical approach to rehabilitate patients’ injuries.  It uses cryotherapy and physical therapy with strength and conditioning body weight exercises (such as yoga, pilates, resistance band, etc.) which helps to speed up patients’ recovery to prior levels of sporting and physical fitness.
